A divorcee with 6 children (3 daughters and 3 sons), I was a daily wage labourer struggling to make ends meet. Since joining the SHG in 2018, today, I humbly stand tall as a successful entrepreneur and a leader of the SHG- as member of the Executive Committee of the Niakracha Block Level Federation (NBLF) and shouldering the post of Treasurer. My life is a testament of how with the right and timely support, a woman with the commitment and zeal can successfully take up multiple activities to earn and alleviate the standard of one’s life. “My embarkment as a member of SHG under NSRLM has been very dear for me and my family. I could open up from shyness and share my interest with my SHG members at ease. The habit of savings and lending at nominal interest rates inculcated along with the practice of developing Micro Credit Plans in our SHG influenced me to a great extend to start my own business. My enterprise began from a petty shop into General Store. And through the management of community investment fund and monitoring of the defaulters, the practice of “BAKI” (credit) gradually decreased in the community and it helped in my business and others to flourish. The active involvement of my husband in my enterprise and the happiness my family experiences from its success encourages me further.”
